For those fans of Kaanapali Alii, it cannot come soon enough. In April, The owners at Kaanapali Alii approved what can only be described as a major refresh of the property. Construction began in August, and those that have seen the physical results describe the change as a Renaissance for a grand property.
It starts with an advanced, quiet digital control air conditioning system, which includes a more energy efficient chiller plant and new fan coil units in every room. There are also new Photo Voltaic Energy Solar Panels and High Efficiency LED Lighting. These changes will reduce energy use by 23%!
There was also a plumbing modernization program, utilizing a process referred to as cured in place pipelining. These projects were funded by a loan, which will cause a relatively modest increase in the maintenance fees. When compared with other resort properties on Kaanapali Beach, Kaanapali Alii has always had some of the lowest maintenance fees, while still maintaining a healthy reserve account.
In addition to these major renovations, there was a whole host of beautification projects that took place and were funded from capital reserves. The entire building was repainted, the hallways have all been upgraded with new tile at the elevator landings, new wallpaper and new carpeting throughout the hallways. Outside, there are new BBQ’s, with new granite counter tops and all new pool furniture.
All of these enhancements are in addition to the upgrades made in the last major renovation, where the pool was enlarged, a new hydro-spa was added and the covered area by the pool expanded. The Kaanapali Alii also built a new fitness center that features all of the latest equipment.
