Last week, we were discussing the recent upgrades that have been made at The Whaler on Kaanapali Beach, along with its excellent financial position, and the subsequent benefits for its condo owners. If you’re interested, we recommend you check our blog history and see that post in conjunction with this, the second part of the update. The reason the Whaler is getting this spotlight is because of these remarkable changes that it has undergone, which involve around $30 million in repairs, renovations and improvements on the property since 2007.

With such an impressive investment made to keep the Whaler in outstanding shape, you might expect high fees for its various features. In reality, resort fees are $16/day and cover WiFi, beach towel services, washer/dryer facilities, BBQs, valet parking, and beach chair service. Guests are not charged fees for parking or the use of the tennis and fitness facilities. Now consider the Whaler’s $16/day fee and everything that comes with it, and compare that to the Sheraton with its $25/day resort fee where you also pay $20/day for tennis, $20/day for parking and the use of a self-laundry facility for a fee.

One of the conveniences of the valet parking is the hours, which are now 10am to 10pm. This decision was made to maximize availability for owners and guests during check-in and check-out times, and they have already seen a healthy increase in the number of folks making use of this service. Again, this is covered by the Whaler’s $16/day resort fee.

The thorough security isn’t new, but if you’re a prospective buyer, it may be worth noting that both kiosk and patrol security guards continue to attend to the safety and privacy of the Whaler by allowing only authorized vehicle entry onto the property and by keeping an eye on things while educating staff, contractors, vendors and visitors on safety policies.

As we continue to receive updates, we will post them here. If you have any questions about buying a condo at the Whaler, you’ll find our contact information at the bottom of the page. Mahalo!
