Maui Luxury Real Estate Team

West Maui is an amazing place to live, and the food isn’t one of the smaller reasons! Yes, the natural beauty is its finest quality, but when you consider the importance of mealtime in anyone’s day, it’s hard not to appreciate the amazing variety of tasty cuisine that you can find in West Maui. Eating provides us with nutrition, enjoyable flavors and a chance to come together and socialize and share our lives with each other. That’s why it’s nice to hear that a new Italian restaurant is coming to Kapalua.

Chris Kaiwi is the former operations manager from The Plantation House and Pineapple Grill here on Maui, and now he’s in the process of opening Taverna Italian Eatery & Wine Bar at Kapalua Village Center in the Kapalua Resort. The ambiance will be elegant but laid back, and the cuisine will feature familiar Italian comfort food like house made pastas and wood fired pizzas. Drinks will focus on craft cocktails and keg wines.

The restaurant is scheduled to open in mid-January in the retail space structure located on Kapalua Resort’s former Village Course. Kaiwi will be the principal partner and operator, and his business partners are Roger Stettler, the former executive chef from Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, and Greg Shephard, the former beverage manager and fine wine specialist from Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort.

As for the restaurant’s economic benefits, there will be jobs for around 25 to 30 employees. There will be lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch menus as well as indoor and outdoor seating options, so get ready to check it out when the doors open.

For all of you foodies in the market for a West Maui home, this new restaurant can just be another perk to the variety of dining experiences you can find here. It’s a big deal, considering some people are so hooked on their favorite foods that it dictates whether they move to a new place or not. Surprising, and yet not, isn’t it?
