Norm Bezane, a columnist at Lahaina News, recently published a piece on our very own Bob Cartwright. It was titled “Bob Cartwright, shaper of West Maui, does more than sell.” We decided that if the media is interested in Bob’s unique brand of excellence, we should at least put together a blog about it!
As Bezane pointed out in this column’s intro, when asked what they do for a living, most real estate agents just say that they sell real estate. But Bob looks at things differently. The column quotes Bob as saying, “The first thing we do is help people through transitions in their lives.”
The purchase of real estate can mark numerous phases in any buyer’s life. There are those purchasing their very first home, or moving to a larger one to accommodate their growing family, or choosing a home in which to enjoy retirement. The truth is that the selection and purchase of a home is a deeply personal process that reflects the uniqueness of each person who comes to a broker or agent for assistance.
Some real estate professionals might miss this. Bob doesn’t. Those looking to rush through the process for the money probably won’t be very successful. You need to connect with the client’s needs and thoroughly understand the big picture as well as the finer details, with regard to each client’s particular situation. Successful sales are just a byproduct of helping people find their niche.
As mentioned in Bezane’s column, Bob asserts that the most pleasurable achievement for a Maui broker is helping people discover the benefits of living on Maui. His top five: better health, learning aloha, enjoying natural beauty, pursuit of the intellectual and spiritual, and the happiness of owning a home in paradise.
